At this time, I have 1 Champion sired black/silver female available, Lexi is 2.5 years old, very outgoing and happy. Please read more about her on the puppy available page. I am planning a breeding for October/November time, for spring pups. If you are interested in information on the parents, please feel free to email me, to get on the list for a pet puppy. **Written references are on the "About us/Contact" page. If you would like to speak with any of my puppy parents, please ask, it is easily arranged.
Wildenbergs All That-N-Then Some
Welcome to my website! I raise only AKC Miniature Schnauzers, that are happy, healthy and well socialized. Because I only have a few litters (2-4) per year, and I work at home (helping the hubby on the ranch/farm), I feel I can give the pups all the attention they need, plus some. My kids and other people are allowed to hold the pups from birth (with supervision of course), everyone is invited to play with the pups as they grow. I believe this makes for a better pup, as they have met lots of new people, and they will know it's ok when a stranger wants to meet them. Some breeders keep their pups in kennels, or cages, never touching the grass until they go to their new homes, never being allowed to play with other people, and heaven forbid children touch their dogs. That is fine for them, but for me, I prefer to have the pups in the house. House training is started about 4-5, they are ready to go out and potty, and get introduced to the adult dogs. Around 6-7 weeks they are allowed to play with the adult dogs. Pups learn alot of their manners from the older dogs. All of my dogs do very well with the pups (or they wouldn't be here!) I don't have winter litters (do to the weather and the difficulty with potty training), and I don't have Christmas litters (there are enough commercial breeders/puppy mills breeding for the holidays and because buying a puppy shouldn't be a spur of the moment gotta get a gift type of thing). I have a planned breeding for the end of November, which would put the pups ready to go the end of March 2009.
I like to make recommendations as to which pup I feel will make a good fit into your family, taking into account the families lifestyle and the personality of each of the pups. I do this by asking questions, such as your work situation, other pets, age and number of kids, so on and so forth. Of course you can still take your pick, by color or sex or personality. Typically there are several different personality types in each litter. Some are people oriented, others would do well with another dog or small children to play with. I am very honost, if I don't feel I have the right pup for you, I will tell you, and help you find someone that does.

Throughout the website you will see pics, of the things we do, throughout the year.
I do ship puppies via Delta airlines, you can come to our home to pick them up, or, we can arrange to meet you somewhere if you live within a days driving distance.

Because I Love Your Next Best Friend:
I do not kennel my dogs or puppies, they are an ACTUAL functioning part of the family. My dogs are treated the same as our children, they are spoiled, praised, raised to respect other people and things and get "the evil eye" and maybe a swat on the bum when they need it! Our dogs get to go to work with us, swim in the river in the summer, sled in the snow in the winter, relax by the fire, roast hotdogs and marshmallows (of course they can't eat those things!). I am knowledgeable about the breed, and the different lines, however, I do not know ALL the answers. My mentors, have 80+ years combined experience with the breed. I am honost and upfront and will tell you if we don't know an answer. I am also willing arrange for ear cropping and keep the pup until the ears are healed, if you would like it done here! I have negotiated with our vet for a price of $200 for ear cropping. He does a beautiful job on the ears! Depending on the age of the pup, he/she can be altered before leaving for their new home.
I do not raise ANY OTHER kind of dog. Once you are a true, devoted Schnauzer person, that's it, there's NOTHING else you want to raise! Schnauzers are non-shedding, so if you are allergic to dogs, a Schnauzer will be wonderful. There are exceptions however, so if you are allergic to dogs, please find someone who has a Schnauzer and spend a few hours with him/her, then go home and make sure there's not a reaction. Everyones allergies are different.
Schnauzers love to work, and have a very high drive to be productive. They are used as drug dogs, cancer detection dogs, therapy dogs, they can work sheep and goats and even cows. They are limited only by our imaginations. Schnauzers were not bred just to look pretty, they were originally bred as ratters, they were working dogs in the beginning of the breed. They are good at agility, flyball, and earthdog competitions. If you would like to put your schnauzer to work, I offer a special program, where I will refund 1/2 the purchase price of the pup/dog, once he/she is certified in that area. I currently have 2 dogs in training for Therapy, and would love to add more working dogs!
Champion Lines: I have spent alot of time, researching, calling, asking lots ofquestions to find the lines I wanted for the base of my future breeding. Dakota, my other stud, has all of his single points out of the way, he just needs majors to be a finished Champion . My finished Champion male, Tuffy is pictured here. All of my females are either Champion sired or Champion sire/Champion dam. I am very picky, with both conformation AND personality. Without personality, you don't have a schnauzer! I may occasionally offer a show quality pup, at no additional charge, as a pet. I can not keep all the pups that are show quality, to show. I do not and will not sell my pups for breeding, please do not ask.
AKC Champion lined dogs have a tendancy to be healthier than the local population, simply because breeders care where their pups go, and if there is a problem with the line, test breeding may be done, or a problem dog will be taken out of the breeding program. You don't find this in a local population, in commercial breeders or puppy mills, because the breeders don't keep track of their pups, don't do follow-ups with their customers, and if there is a problem with a particular dog, he/she may still be breeding, because the money is more important than the health of the breed. There is a higher incidence of retinal displasia and other genetic health problems in local populations. Many breeders out there are advertising their dogs as "Champion Line", and even selling them for breeding. What they are not telling their customers is that when the champions are 5 or more generations back, and the dogs have been bred to who knows what in those 5 generations, the dogs tend to lose their conformation, looks and possible character. This is why you will see dogs that may have shorter legs, longer backs, strange hair, short noses, terrible ears etc. They may also be over or under AKC standard for height. White is not an accepted "color" by AKC, parti, chocolate, liver and toys are not a breed, they are an intentional, man-made mutation in the breed, that is attainted by serious inbreeding. APRI, UKC, CKC (Continental Kennel Club) registries are not as reputable as AKC. Some take litters and register them on the honer system, you can take a schnoodle litter (schnauzer/poodle), have your neighbor John who owns the poodle that sired the litter, have him sign a paper that says yes, his poodle is a purebred schnauzer, and BOOM, you have CKC registered schnauzer pups with really funky hair! Designer and mixed breeds may not be "the best of both breeds". Along with the good characteristics of both breeds, they may also get genetic issues from both sides. Each purebred breed has their own set of genetic or aquired disorders a pup may be pre-disposed to. Schnauzers are prone to diabetes, Von Willebrands disease, cataracts, epilepsy, liver shunts etc.
Please be aware there is a new scam going around where a breeder can buy an "American Champion" certificate. Also be aware that any champions on a dogs pedigree will be verifiable by AKC or through research on the internet. If you have any doubts as to the champions in a dogs line, you can do a search online and usually get your answer as to whether or not a dog has earned his/her champion title. APRI/CKC (Continental Kennel Club) "champions" or "show" dogs, are more or less a scam. The requirements to "show" these dogs do not even require the dogs to be stripped or even clippered in an appropriate Schnauzer pattern, never name the fact they take whatever color is presented before them.
What I do:
Get to know each puppy individually, how their temperment is, what kind of family/lifestyle they would best fit into, how they react to different situations and strange people or animals. Yes, you can tell pretty much what type of personality they will have by 4-5 weeks of age, if you spend ALOT of time with them. Also, this makes it easier to make the transition from our house to yours.
I give you a weekly (orally or in writing, whichever you prefer, until the pup is 8 weeks old, or ready to go!) update on the activities, new skills, health, schedules and anything else you would like to know about your puppy, as well as pictures of your baby at PLAY, not a pose with props and cool lighting. This is very time consuming, however, I want you to know your puppy when he/she gets to you. Also, we want to make sure our babies are going to the best possible home. I have and will send a customer to another breeder if I feel he/she is not the most loving and compatible home for my babies.
I give you all the positives AND negative aspects of our parent(s) personalities. These traits could possibly pass on the the puppy, we want you to be aware of the individual quirks of mom/dad. Also, I give you height AND weight on the parents, you can't really get a really good idea of mom/dads size just by weight. I am proud of my dogs, if you want to know anything, just ask!!
I crate train my pups at 6-7 weeks of age (they start sleeping by themselves), this way it's less stress on the pup if they have to fly, and less stress on their new family, as they don't cry at night when they get to their new home. It's a little rough on us the first night or two, but if it saves a headache for the new parents, then we've accomplished something! I ask that my puppy parents send me something that smells like their home/family, to put into the crate with their pup, that way they already know your smell when they get to your house.
Anyone can sell you a cute puppy, but it takes hard work to make a puppy into a good dog, and an honest person to tell you whether they have a pup that will make a wonderful fit into your life. If I don't have something for you, and you have to have a pup right now, please feel free to contact me, I can send you to people that I know are good breeders, and trust. I would much rather send business elsewhere, than have someone go to a pet store or (unkowingly) a puppy mill to get a pup. Breeders who have a USDA license or are an AKC inspected kennel have a lot of litters each year, please choose wisely. There are exceptions to this of course, please screen these people carefully.
It's never too early to be put on the contact list, especially if you are looking for a certain color or sex. The best things in life are certainly worth waiting for! I have a limited number of litters each year.
Please, if you are truly interested in a puppy, pick up the phone or drop an email with your phone number, I'd rather talk to real person than a screen!!! First call, first choice, even over emails!

Hi Chris: I thought it was about time I sent you a letter that you can use on your web site, if you want. When we approached you about getting a Min. Schnauzer, we had real concerns about bringing a puppy into our home at our ages (70's). We thought, oh boy, training a pup after all these years of NEVER having a house dog. We felt intimidated!! My husband, Garth, has NEVER had a house dog. I was raised with a dog in the home, but have not had one in the house since marrying Garth. Well, I have to tell you our little Boris has been such a delight. He has never had an accident in the house, he sleeps in his little "taxi" crate, he is just a delightful little boy who knows how to return the love that he is given (and he is given a lot!). He takes a nap with Garth every day. Lays in his lap in his recliner. He is an obedient little boy, learns very fast. I have a pretty good sized bell hanging on the living room door that goes to the outside door. He will go over and hit it with his nose when he wants to go outside, thus letting me know "I want outside". We take him almost everywhere we go and he is learning to love riding in the pickup. He seems to prefer that to our VW Jetta. I think that is because he can sit between us in the pickup. You did a wonderful job training him and we really appreciate it! We would recommend your dogs to anyone. Thank you for this great little guy who has both of us wrapped around his paws. Garth & Ruthelda - (They purchased Boris, he was 6 months old at the time, he's on the gallery page of the website)
Hi! Chris, Sorry, that I haven't updatd you. I have been so busy. I come home everyday at lunch to walk MAX. I changed his name and he responds great. He is wonderful and has adjusted very well. He has not used the bathroom in the house yet. We have an acre and half lake around our condo and I walk him morning, noon and night and sometimes in between. He has many new friends since this is a dog friendly neighborhood. He especially likes the two boxers next door GIGI and Ginger. He likes GIGI the best she is white with blue eyes. He has been very social with everyone He has a view from every room in the condo and sits and watches everything that goes on. He has everything he could want new toys (lot's) he thinks everything I bring in belongs to him. He has two beds, steps for my bed of course. pillows, blanket even his own Christmas tree with mininature dog ornaments . He has edible christmas dog greeting cards for him and his friends. He will be flying with me to Chicago for the Christmas holiday. Thank you so much he is truly a blessing. Have a Great Holiday!!! Sue (Sue purchased a 9 month old male from me)
Please note: I have no breeding or business affiliation with Amandia Smith, nor do I refer customers to her.
